....................... Holden Report - Issue #4
  • Well the Holden still managed to cost us an arm and a leg during January when we were in Australia. Dave Wilton our friendly Holden repairman saved the day by taking it to our friendly garage repairman Chris at Uptown motors promising him that "they would pay when they get back!"

  • Newsflash The MONK1E number plate is now on the Holden

  • Sam manages to get pulled over twice in one evening and breath tested...nearly breaking Steve's previous record.

  • The well and truly faded colour of the Holden

  • The Holden celebrated Sam's birthday with a broken rear axle. Sam was on a journey of paramount importance picking up the salads for the barbeque when the Holden decided to hold up traffic outside the supermarket for an hour.

  • On a return journey from the Wairarapa at 2am in the morning the left front tire decides to pop. It takes a good 25 minutes for the gear to be loaded out of the Holden, tire replaced and gear packed in again! We considered doing a roadside concert for the passing motorists.

  • The 'Monkey Mobile' miraculously gets it third warrant with a new panel that gets welded to the left front hand door leaving the Holden scarred for life.

  • Steve rings Carl telling him 'they' will be around soon to pick him up.
Carl thinks Steve has the Holden.
    Steve knows Sam has it.
    Sam arrives at Carl's house.
    Carl thinks Sam walked.
Carl and Sam sit around for 15 minutes waiting for Steve.
Steve rings Carl asking why he is taking so long.
Sam mentions that the Holden is sitting outside!

Sam gets 'Driver of the month' for not picking up Steve before Carl and not telling Carl he had the Holden when he arrived to pick him up!

  • Holden Fact No.4: Police get suspicious when the numberplates on your Holden aren't yours.

  • We are still awaiting the MONK1E plate!

  • The interior of the Holden reflects the state of boys rooms! The number of bottles and MacDonalds wrappers that get emptied out at every gas station usually fills the rubbish tin...and thats just the front seat!

  • Duane Sidford gets 'Passenger of the month' when he bends part of the back door leaving the Holden virtually impossible to get gear in and out of!
