Holden Report - December 2k
  • Holden gets new set of tires. While in Auckland for our Temple performance and a jaunt around Waiheke Island we decided to get the vehicle inspected (again) as the wire mesh was coming through on the tires. $500 dollars later we managed to drive away with pristine new treads...

  • Holden's warrant is due. We had the vehicle 'inspected' (again) and found that the doors all needed replacing due to the abundance of rust. A quick trip to a Holden spare parts place and $450 dollars later we found 3 doors that were of a suitable standard. The 4th door (rear left) we decided to 'touch up' ourselves.

  • Steve gets pulled over. On a recent trip back from Paraparaumu a police officer pulled the Holden over to test the alchoholic percentage of the driver's breath. Luckily Steve's new 'health kick diet' of no 'alchohol' and no 'dairy' passed the test. The officer failed to notice that the warrant was overdue and actually had a quiet laugh at the numberplate (MONK1E) and the driver reffering to himself as "Mr Monkey"!

  • Holden fact No.34: There are always coins in the front bench seat of a Holden.

  • The Holden's handbrake light is continually on (again).

  • Carl gets pulled over. On a trip in Hawkes Bay (and on xmas eve) a police officer asked the 'driver of the vehicle' to state his name and address. Again (luckily) the overdue warrant wasn't noticed and the officer sent Carl on his 'merry' way. Home was about 20 yards up the road.

  • After a recent gig at Bodega in Wellington the Holden was found 'tagged' by some local fans. Words to the effect of "Uncle Monkey are the bomb"..."Uncle Monkey rules" etc.

  • Holden fact No.35: A dirty Holden always gets 'tagged'.
